Bush We have been held captive to the news channels the last 2 weeks. Fearing the worst, and praying for the best, we hold our breath until the next report comes in. How is the battle going? Are they going to use weapons of mass destruction? Is the enemy surrendering? When will he be defeated? We watch with great anticipation. No one knows how it will turn out. We have a pretty good idea. But it is not over until it is over. Today we are in a battle much more insidious than the one being fought in Iraq. It is a battle to take every soul in the world and turn them against their creator. For the time being it looks like a battle that will take the whole world. Today, Christ is saying to us: "The course of this conflict is not known to you, yet its outcome is certain. Freedom and fear, justice and cruelty, have always been at war, but I am not neutral between them." In this service, we see the blueprint of a new type of government. One based on selflesness, giving, and love. In this service we see the propaganda of the enemy totally trashed. God loves. He loves so much that he gave part of Himself to demonstrate that love. He loves so much that he sacrificed that which is rightfully His so that He could crush the lies of the enemy. The enemy keeps slaves. Our God wants children. The enemy forces labor. Our Lord wants to take the yoke with us. The enemy lives to destroy with the poisions of hate, lies, and anger. Our Savoir died to bring love, truth, and harmony. As we partake today, I ask that you search your life. As you join in the footwashing, let God wash your heart. As you partake of the bread, feast on the joy of your salvation. As you drink the wine, let the blood of your Savior clean you.
